William Poyer
Seeing as Spiritual Records are awash with talent, when they
tell you they have a new release you know you're in for a treat, cue William
Poyer and his new single "Weight In Gold" . The official video shot in Mexico and directed by Jose Tato Grageda will be
released on 3rd May, in the meantime check out this live version from the Spiritual Sessions

The track could see Poyer elevated to where he deserves to be, it's not only incredibly catchy, it's also lyrically clever and as if with a large branding iron stamps a seal on his songwriting ability. With an Americana vibe and a mix of wild west & modern he puts his inspiration down to artists such as Ray Lamontagne Shovels and Rope & Jason Isbell and I can see the similarities in the sense that from a musical style they all seemingly lived well before they were born into this lifetime, maybe there's something to be said for reincarnation? Poyer uses light and shade in his vocals like a true storyteller and I'm transported back to the days where kids and adults alike were sat in front of the TV watching Jackanory, eyes wide, jaws dropped & ears open , it's a believable story telling performance that has you mesmerised.
In 2013 he left his native welsh home and began a journey of discovery that saw him living in Mexico for three years, and it was whilst there he found the musical sound he was looking for which helped him create a stunning collection of songs for his 2016 debut album "Born Lucky" One of the stand out tracks on that album has to be "Makings Of A Man.
Following on from that he went on to release a live version of "Weight In Gold" in 2017 for the Spiritual Records Live No.2 release recorded live at The Spiritual bar in Camden. While 2018 saw him play all over the UK including supports slots for Tom Walker & also Great Lake Swimmers , 2019 has kept him just as busy as he supported Spiritual bar pals Ferris & Sylvester on their headline tour. With the release of single "Weight In Gold" on the 19th April and a second album on the horizon, Poyers wagon of success seems destined to keep on rollin.
